Red Velvet Pancake

Introduction

For a while it seemed that everyone was making some version of a Red Velvet dessert. Be it cupcakes, cookies or brownies. Well why not eat your dessert first? We mean for breakfast. The scrumptious classic taste of red velvet in a delightful pancake is waiting for you.

Red Velvet Pancakes

  1. Pre-heat electric non-stick griddle to 350.

  2. Melt butter and set aside.

  3. In bowl whisk eggs together.

  4. Add buttermilk, sour cream, red food coloring, vinegar, vanilla then add melted butter.

  5. Whisk together wet ingredients

  6. Slowly add flour mixture to wet ingredient bowl and mix just until combined

  7. Use non-stick spray on griddle, pour about 1/4 cup pancake mixture onto griddle (depending on how large you want your pancake)

  8. Cook until bubbles begin to appear then flip pancakes over and cook opposite side until pancake is cooked through. Yields 12-16 pancakes.


Cream Cheese Glaze

  1. In a mixing bowl, using an electric hand mixer set on medium speed, blend together softened cream cheese and softened butter until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

  2. Add vanilla, milk and powder sugar until well combined.

  3. Add in additional milk to thin if desired.

  4. Drizzle and...Bon Appetit!

Dry Ingredients:

Wet Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup butter - melted

  • 2 tsp white vinegar

  • 2 tsp vanilla

  • 4-6 tablespoons of red food coloring


Cream Cheese Glaze

  • 6 oz cream cheese , softened

  • 6 Tbsp butter , softened

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 1/2 cup milk , plus more if desired

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
